Power Conversations

My husband started the idea of having Power Conversations with our daughters when they were only 5 and 7 years old.

What this entails is selecting a topic for discussion during our dinner time. We probe to see what they know and then ask then continue our conversation by learning about that topic.

We discuss anything from character building, to telling the truth, responsibility, self-esteem, insecurity, good work ethics, family, divorce, sin, eternity, and a plethora of topics to help them form a world view in the light of God’s Word.

As a result, our children are very strong inside and they have the capacity to understand life and spiritual principles at a very young age.

Children are never too young to learn about these things. On the contrary, if they don’t learn this from us, where will their principles and ethics be founded?

Children need a point of departure. And we as parents have the privilege and great responsibility to help them form healthy views about themselves, people, God and the world in which we live.
